Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (AKA the X-Mansion) is a school in the Marvel Universe that is specialized in teaching mutants to control their powers and is the home to the superhero team known as the X-Men.


The land on where Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters would one day stand was settled by Charles and Marcia Graymalkin in the late 1700's.  The history on this period is largely unknown, though it is known Charles Graymalkin buried his own son alive after learning he had a homosexual lover.

On an unconfirmed date between the late 1700's and the early 1900's, a large Neoclassic mansion was built by and for parties unknown on the land near Beakstone Lake outside of Salem Centre, New York.  Eventually, sometime in the 20th century, it was owned by Brian Xavier, a nuclear scientist, who lived their with his wife Sharon and their son, Charles
