Power Girl is a superheroine in the DC Universe and has been a member of the Justice Society of America. She is the Earth-2 counterpart to Supergirl.
Origin[]
Kara Zor-L was the cousin of Kal-L (the Superman of Earth-2). When Krypton was exploding, Kara’s father put infant Kara in an escape rocket to follow her infant cousin Kal’s rocket. However her rocket was knocked off course and she spent years in suspended animation, slowly growing up and learning via artificial intelligence downloads from her rocket. When she landed on Earth, Kara was now a teenager. She was found by Superman and he and his wife Lois Lane raised her like their daughter. Kara became a hero like her cousin, but chose her own identity separate from his, as Power Girl.
An event known as the Crisis on Infinite Earths erased the entire multiverse, and Kara was shunted to the last remaining reality, Earth-One. Initially her memories had been altered as to make her believe that she was an Atlantean whose powers were created by magic, but eventually she learned the truth. She formed new friendships with the Superman of Earth-One and even made an uneasy truce with her counterpart Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl.
Powers[]
Power Girl has the same Kryptonian powers that Superman and Supergirl possess.
