Storm original

Ororo Munroe was the daughter of a princess of a Kenyan tribe and an American journalist. The only sign that Ororo was different was her silver hair and ice blue eyes. When her parents moved to Egypt, a plane crash killed her parents and trapped young Ororo under a mountain of rubble. It took the child days to escape and she was left with crippling claustrophobia. Alone and afraid, Ororo was taken in by a group of young thieves in Cairo, Eygpt. There she was trained in the arts of pick-pocketing and lock picking. An instinct deep within Ororo lead her to leave Cairo and head towards the Sahara Desert. However Ororo was unprepared for the harsh conditions of the desert and nearly died of thirst, but her mutant power to control the weather manifested and allowed her to summon rain to drink. It was during her trek through the desert that she met a young boy named T'Challa who had been kidnapped from his homeland of Wakanda. Ororo used her powers to save T'Challa. The two developed an affection for each other but T'Challa was a prince of Wakanda left to return to his kingdom. Ororo continued her journey and soon found herself among her mother's tribe in Kenya. Ororo was actually a descendant of line of powerful priestesses of the tribe, who all had white hair and blue eyes. Ororo was raised by a triabl elder who guided her in the use of her powers and as Ororo grew up she became worshipped as a goddess.

X-Men[]

When most of his X-Men had been trapped on a mysterious island, Professor X sought out new mutants to rescue them. He approached Ororo to join the X-Men. Professor X explained that Ororo wasn't a goddess but was actually a mutant. She joined the X-Men taking the identity of Storm. Storm was instrumental in freeing the lost X-Men and she and Marvel Girl became close friends.

When Marvel Girl was believed to have died after becoming the Dark Phoenix, the X-Men's team leader (and Marvel Girl's boyfriend),Cyclops, left the team to deal with his grief. Storm was made the X-Men's new leader in his absence and began to mentor a young mutant named Kitty Pryde.

Powerless[]

A mutant hating politician shot Storm with a gun that erased her mutant powers. The gun had actually been designed by a mutant technomancer named Forge, and Forge took it upon himself to care for Storm and help her with her power loss. She fell in love with Forge, but when she learned that he created the weapon used on her, Storm ended their relationship.

Cyclops had married a woman named Madelyne Pryor and had a child with her, and felt he had recovered enough to resume his role as leader of the X-Men. However Storm challenged him, feeling as though his duties were to his new family. Even without her abilities, Storm bested Cyclops in combat and he left the X-Men. He later formed a new team called X-Factor with the original X-Men members (including Marvel Girl who was revealed to have been alive), while Storm remained the X-Men's leader.

When Storm and Forge were trapped on a parallel world, Forge used tech from his own cybernetic leg to fashion a device that restored Storm's power so she could help them escape. They briefly rekindled their romance, but when Forge joined the X-Men he found that their relationship had changed. He asked her to marry him, but then felt that Storm would choose her responsibilities to the team over him. Forge left the X-Men before Storm could reveal that she would have said yes, and hurt by his actions, Storm severed all ties with Forge.

X-Men Gold[]

When the members of X-Factor rejoined the X-Men, a decision was made to split the X-Men into two teams. Cyclops was made leader of the X-Men Blue team, and Storm now lead X-Men Gold. Her team was comprised of Marvel Girl (now going by Phoenix), Iceman, Angel, Bishop, and Colossus.

Storm 90s

Storm after escaping Mikhail's world

It was during this time that Storm was investigating the disappearance of a group of mutants known as the Morlocks, and learned that their had been abducted by Colossus's brother Mikhail. Mikhail abducted Storm as well and trapped her on a world with a strange atmosphere that resisted her powers. Storm eventually attuned her powers to the weather of this harsh world and was able to free the Morlocks and return to Earth.

X-Treme X-Men[]

Storm learned that a mutant psychic named Destiny had written a series of diaries containing knowledge of the future. Due to a fallng out with Professor X, Storm decided that the diaries needed to be found and hidden from him. She formed her own secret team called the X-Treme X-Men and began to travel the world looking for the diaries of Destiny. While traveling she reconnected with T'Challa, now known as the Black Panther and the new King of Wakanda. When Phoenix was seeming killed by Magneto, Storm's team decided to rejoin the X-Men and help the team heal. However Storm stayed with Black panther to grieve and the two fell in love. When Black Panther proposed to her she said yes.

Fantastic Four[]

The newlyweds moved to the Wakandan Embassy in New York. It was during this time that Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four were having difficulties with their marriage. Mister Fantastic asked Storm and Black Panther to lead the Fantastic Four while he and Invisible Woman focused on saving their relationship. Storm and Black Panther soon began splitting their time between their new team and Black Panther's kindgom of Wakanda.

X-Men Red[]

Storm faced issues as the queen of Wakanda, as her husband's people rejected her for being both a mutant and an outsider. And as Storm began to help the X-Men more and more, a wedge began to develop between Storm and Black Panther. During a fight between the X-Men and the Avengers, Black Panther assumed Storm would be by his side helping the Avengers. However Storm remained loyal to her former teammates. Black Panther accused Storm of betraying him, the Avengers, and the people of Wakanda and Storm threw her wedding ring at him in a fit of anger. Black Panther then had their marriage secretly annulled and Storm was disgusted by his cowardice in not directly talking with her before he went through with it. She left Wakanda and became a teacher at the X-Men's new Jean Grey Institute. When Phoenix was revealed to have been trapped inside the White Hot Room, and hadn't died as everyone believed, Phoenix formed a new team with Storm called the X-Men Red.

Arakko[]

When a tribe of powerful mutant warriors were discovered on the island of Arakko, they posed a threat to the very planet. A plan was devised by the X-Men to terraform the planet Mars and allow the mutants of Arakko to live there. Storm decided to personally watch over the mutants on Mars and became one of the planet's new rulers.

Powers and Abilities[]

Storm is one of the most powerful mutants and has demonstrated a plethora of abilities, most of which are facets of her power to control the weather. Storm possesses the psionic ability to control all forms of weather over vast areas. She has been able to control both Earthly and extraterrestrial ecosystems on several occasions. She can control the temperature of the environment, control all forms of precipitation, humidity and moisture (at a molecular level), generate lightning and other electromagnetic atmospheric phenomena, and has demonstrated excellent control over atmospheric pressure. She can incite all forms of meteorological tempests, such as tornadoes, thunderstorms, blizzards, hurricanes, and mist. She can dissipate such weather to form clear skies as well.

Her precise control over the atmosphere allows her to create special weather effects. She can create precipitation at higher or lower altitudes than normal, make whirlwinds travel pointing lengthwise in any direction, channel ambient electromagnetism through her body to generate electric blasts, flash freeze objects and people, coalesce atmospheric pollutants into acid rain, toxic or fog and, along with her natural ability of flight, summon wind currents strong enough to support her weight to elevate herself to fly at high altitudes and speeds. Her control is so great that she can even manipulate the air in a person's lungs. She can also control the pressure inside the human inner ear, an ability she uses to cause intense pain. She can also bend light using moisture in the air and her manipulation of mist and fog to appear partially transparent, and in later comics, nearly invisible.

Storm has also demonstrated the ability to control natural forces that include cosmic storms, solar winds, ocean currents, and the electromagnetic field. She has demonstrated the ability to separate water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen, allowing her to breathe underwater. While in outer space, she is able to affect and manipulate the interstellar and intergalactic mediums. Storm can alter her visual perceptions so as to see the universe in terms of energy patterns, detecting the flow of kinetic, thermal and electromagnetic energy behind weather phenomena and can bend this energy to her will.

Storm has shown to be sensitive to the dynamics of the natural world, and her psionic powers over weather are affected by her emotions. One consequence of this connection to nature is that she often suppresses extreme feelings to prevent her emotional state from resulting in violent weather. She has sensed a diseased and dying tree on the X-Mansion's grounds, detected objects within various atmospheric mediums—including water, and sensed the incorrect motion of a hurricane in the Northern Hemisphere and the gravitational stress on the tides by the Moon and Sun as well as the distortion of a planet's magnetosphere. Storm can view the Earth as weather patterns, and is able to precisely recognize her geographic position through interpretations of these patterns. Storm's mutant abilities are limited by her willpower and the strength of her body. Sentinels have classified Storm an Omega level mutant which is the most dangerous type of mutant. on one occasion.
