Origin[]
When reporter Jack Ryder was covering an experimental new form of medicine, the research facility was attacked by criminals. When scientist Dr. Yatz injected Jack with experimental medicine, he was shot in the head and left for dead. The medicine helped him survive, at the cost of his sanity. Now nearly superhuman, Jack lives a double life as the insane superhero The Creeper.

Jack Ryder's was born to Randolph and Eleanor Ryder and his place of birth is unverified. His past otherwise is largely unrevealed. Ryder became a newscaster and reporter for a Gotham City television station.
